Ballina and Byron

A few weeks back I hinted at a big change that is happening in our lives. As I mentioned on Sunday, the Hubby has been offered a job in Byron Bay and this week we got confirmation that the visa transfer has gone through so we went up to look at some properties to rent.

We flew up Wednesday morning and after picking up our hire car drove over to the local mall Ballina Fair to check out what retail therapy could be had. After grabbing some lunch at a Thai restaurant we headed to the main street, River Street to check out the shops there and have a browse through the many op shops.

Once we were all shopped out we had a few appointments to look at houses in East Ballina so we drove over there, realising we were actually an hour early for our appointment we took a wander around the area. After viewing two properties we headed to the agents office to put in an application and heard we had the property half an hour later!

After this we were pretty tired so we went to the supermarket to grab something for dinner and a bottle of wine and drove over to our accommodation. We had booked a spa cabin at Glen Villa Resort in Byron. We did plan on going or a wander in Byron in the evening but we were simply too tired so we had a nice quiet evening in the villa enjoying a soak in the huge spa bath with a glass or two of wine.

Having secured a property on the first day we had the whole of Thursday to enjoy so we got up and went for breakfast with the Hubby's new boss at The Eatery on Jonson where we ate the biggest and yummiest egg and bacon rolls in Byron Bay. After brekie we went to check out the farmers market that is on every Thursday and then after a stroll along the beach took a drive up to the lighthouse to take in the stunning views.
We had to be back in Ballina for the afternoon as he had an appointment with the agents to pay the deposit on the house so we headed back over there and checked out a few op shops that we had missed the day before. At the Vinnies I picked up a cute blue polka dot play-suit and a lovely Hi There by Karen Miller dress for just $5 each!
By this point we were feeling a little peckish so we headed to Ballina RSL for a spot of lunch and sat out in the sunshine overlooking the river while we enjoyed our lunch. After lunch we went to pay the deposit for our lease and then headed back to the aiport to catch our flight back to Sydney!

Here are a few snaps from our trip:
