Dreaming of Dior is a fabulous book that tells the individual stories of the dresses that Charlotte Smith inherited from her Godmother Doris Darnell. The book had me enchanted from the second I pick it up as lets face it inheriting boxes and boxes of vintage gowns is any girls dream! The pages alternate with anecdotes of the beautiful dresses in the collection and the women that wore them and beautiful illustrations. I loved these stunning pictures as they allow the reader to imagine these beautiful frocks but I would love to see photos of the dresses.
Charlotte Smith will be at the Sydney Vintage Clothing Jewellery and Textile Show giving a talk on some of the dresses that make up the Darnell Collection and there will be the opportunity to see some of the dresses in all their glory. The show is on at Canterbury Racecourse Function Centre from October 15th - 17th.
Charlotte Smith's next book Dreaming of Chanel is out on 1st November.
