Emma aime in the Kitchen: Apple Pie

We had some apples that needed using up this week so I made a yummy apple pie. Its really easy to make and tastes great!

Ingredients:
Filling:
Apples
1 tsp cinamon
1 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
knob of butter
sprinkle of sugar

Pastry:
225g plain flour, sieved
110g unsalted butter
80g castor sugar
1 large egg, beaten

Method:
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees centigrade
Mix the flour and butter together to form bread crumbs
Mix in the sugar
Mix in the egg, knead together to form a pastry
Cover pastry and refrigerate for 30 minutes

Peal, core and cut up the apple
place in a pan with the spices, butter and a sprinkling of sugar and leave bubbling away on a low heat until soft

Roll out the pastry to 3mm and place in a pie tin cut off excess pastry
Fill tin with apple mixture then place on pie pastry lid
Bake on 180 centigrade for approx 30 mins or until a golden brown colour.
