Emma aime at the Movies: Chaplin

The hubby and I finally got around to watching Chaplin. This movies has been on my 'to watch' list for years and last weekend we finally sat down and watched it. The movie was  everything I thought it would be and more. Robert Downy Jnr was just incredible in this biopic of the man behind the makeup of the little tramp.

The movie follows Chaplin from his formative years growing up in a poor family and being taken to the workhouse to his vaudeville days ending up as one of the biggest celebrities and best known actors in the world.

Robert Downey Jnr performance definitely stole the movie. His grasp of the character from the amazing slapstick actor to the troubled man behind the makeup was stunning and definitely Oscar worthy. The sense of melancholy and loss that haunts Chaplin throughout his life is captivating and haunting.
