Canberra - Day 1

We've been in Australia for almost 5 years and we still haven't seen the nations capital. We thought that having visitors gave us the perfect opportunity for a mini break to Canberra.

We headed off shortly after breakfast and arrived at lunch time at the Black Mountain Tower after a spot of lunch and a huge slice of cake at the cafe we went to check out the views. The boys braved going up to the outside observation deck but it was so windy I almost got blown away so I gave my camera to the hubby to get some photos for me.
Once we had surveyed enough scenery we hopped back in the car and headed just next door to the tower to the botanical gardens where we took a relaxing stroll amongst the flora and fauna before heading to our apartment at the Medina Executive St James Court where after a reviving cup of tea we went down for a relaxing sauna and a swim and then headed into town to find somewhere for dinner.
We stumbled across Cafe Essen who had an exhaustive range of coffees and reasonably priced grub. The hubby and I split a huge but mediocre curry platter.

After dinner we popped into the supermarket to pick up a bottle of wine (ah the novelty of buying alcohol in a supermarket!) and headed back to the apartment for a little tipple and to have a swim in the huge spa bath!

Stay tuned tomorrow for more Canberra adventures!
