Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas dear readers. I hope you all had a fabulously festive day and Santa brought you everything you ask for. I got some wonderful Christmas presents but that's for another post. Today I thought I'd share how we spent our Christmas eve.

The hubby had a rare day off so we drove over to Bondi to check out The Hill Eatery its owned by the same people that own Porch Bread and Wine Parlour where hubby is head bakers. We started off with some yummy starters of beautifully seasoned olives roasted almonds and jamon wrapped field mushrooms that were just divine. For mains I opted for the pork belly with roast baby veggies and the hubby went for steak. They were both beautifully cooked and very generous portions mine was so large the hubby finished it off. The pork was absolutely delicious and melted in the mouth. It was so good in fact that I didn't have time to photograph it before we scarfed it all!
These beautiful trees are dotted all over Sydney this one was in Hyde Park but we
spotted ones the same on St Mary's Cathedral forecout and outside Customs House

After dinner we hoped on a bus to the city to check out the Christmas decorations. First we wandered through Hyde Park with a stop at St  Mary's cathedral to see the illuminations.
St Mary's Cathedral looking beautifully atmospheric

Then we popped back across the park to David Jones to see their wonderful Christmas windows.
David Jones windows were all Christmas carol themed each one a different carol. I'm not sure which carol this one was but it is very cute regardless

After which we went to see the illuminations at Pitt Street Mall. These beautifully illuminated trees were dotted all the way down the mall.
Overhead were stunning colour lights that subtly changed colour. I forgot to photograph them in my haste to get out of the rain.
We stopped by the QVB to check out the huge Swarovski crystal tree. It was so big that it went through all the stories of the QVB. It's hard to get the whole tree in one photo but you can see some better pictures of it on the QVB website here.
After wandering through the QVB we went to check out the illuminated Town Hall. The stunning light displays changed every few minutes. Unfortunately as it is a busy street every time I tried to get a picture a bus drove by!
Our last stop of the night was the Christmas tree in Martin Place which we voted best tree of the night. The beautiful lights were constantly changing. By which time the rain was really coming down so we hopped back on the bus to Bondi and went back into the Hill for a couple of coffees and a delicious desert of Eton mess before driving home and sitting up watching Christmas movies until the early hours of the morning!
