At the Movies: Gangster Squad

Last Monday night after a delicious meal at the Hill the hubby and I headed to Hoyts at the Entertainment Quarter to see Gangster Squad. In 1949 in LA a secret police squad was set up to destroy Micky Cohen's crime empire. The film is 'based on a true story' but i'm sure they have been rather economical with the truth and it came out as a rather cliched gangster movie. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it I just don't think it will be winning any Oscars this year!

This was the first time I have seen Emma Stone play a serious role and was fantastic and every part the gangster's moll in this amazing scarlet number. In fact she reminded me of Jessica Rabbit!
As for the dress itself it reminded me of these fabulous octopus dresses (so called because they can be worn a variety of different ways) that are for sale on Etsy by Coralie Beatrix inc.
Gangster Squad is out now in cinemas. I'll leave you with this trailer for the movie:

  1. The movie itself its entertaining but nothing for the ages. Sean Penn is atrocious in my opinion. But I do think Ryan Gosling did a good job. Emma Stone and Brolin where decent too.
