At the Movies: About Time

A few weeks back the Hubby and I went to see About Time. I was expecting a trite little rom-com that would be entertaining but a complete no brainer but About Time was so much more than that.

About Time is a British Romantic Comdey starring Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams and Bill Nighy and written and directed by Richard Curtis.

At the age of 21 Tim (Domhall Gleesons) father (Billy Nighy) reveals to him that all the men in their family share a surprising talent - they can travel through time. Tim's Father explains that they can only travel backwards within their own lifetime. Tim decides to use this ability to find love but his first conquest a friend of his sisters who stays with them over summer rejects him no matter how he changes time and Tim realises that even with the ability to time travel you can't force someone to love you.

After the summer Tim moves to London to pursue his law career. There he meets Mary but an unfortunate time traveling incident means that Tim erases his and Mary's first meeting and so he ensures they meet again and the movie follows everything that happens after.

About Time is a beautifully crafted movie with an endearing story that gives the message to live each day to its fullest. Bill Nighy was fantastic (as always) and although the movie was 2 hours long it did not drag one little bit.

About Time is in cinemas now!
