Crafting Christmas Decorations

The last week in Sydney has been horribly windy and grey so yours truly has been holed up inside so I thought I'd take advantage of the time by making my Christmas decorations. Every year we theme or decorations, last year was 'Brights and Birds' as you can see here. This year, inspired by the beautiful decorations at Ikea we have gone for 'Scandinavian Christmas'. This was the first year that we were in a big enough place to have a full size (6ft) tree so I have been spending the last week or so making decorations to fill it. Here are just a few you can try making for yourself:

Scandinavian heart baskets:
These super cute traditional Scandinavian heart baskets look great on the tree filled with Christmas treats. You can find the instructions on how to make them at Pom Pom Emporium and download the template here.

Bird Ornaments:
These little dove decorations look sweet nestled on the tree. You can find the tutorial on how to make them at New Latina

Cross stitch pillows:

There are plenty of little Christmas cross stitch pattern free online I stitched some and then made them up into these cute little pillows to be hung on the tree. These little snowflakes from Made to Treasure are a perfect pattern to use:

Pipe cleaner snowflakes:
These little pipe cleaner snowflakes are quick and easy to make. For instructions on this well as well as plenty of other fab Christmas crafts check out Martha Stewart.

Christmas stars:
To make these stars are simply cut out a star pastern and stitched two pieces together using metallic gold. DMC thread adding the stuffing as I went and stitching a loop at the top to hang them.
