Vivid Sydney 2013

On Friday night the hubby and I headed to the city to check out the Vivid Sydney light walk. We have attended Vivid every year since we moved to Sydney and it is a great way to brighten up the winter.

We started at Darling Harbour where we wandered through Tumbalong Park to check out the various light sculptures then stopped to watch the Aquatique show which was absolutely stunning. Aquatique is a  completely immersive water theatre, combining a magic 20-metre wall of light, colour and music inspired by the fountains of Versailles. The show is on the hour every hour from 6pm to midnight and features a rotation of four different shows; ‘Rock and Roll’, ‘Dance Around the World’, ‘Nature’ and ‘Masks of the World’.These shows are combined with fireworks on: Thursday, Friday, Sunday – 7pm & 9pm and Saturday – 7pm, 8:30pm, & 10pm. Unfortunately quite a big crowd had gathered making it difficult to get photos.
Next we hopped on one of the free Vivid ferries to Towns Place Wharf where we took in all the light installations around Walsh Bay and the Rocks and the stunning views of the bridge and opera house. After this we stopped by the Vivid Sydney Night Markets and grabbed a plate of delicious satay chicken skewers from the Sailors Thai stall and a cup of mulled wine to warm us up!

After our refreshments we wandered along circular quay and around the opera house stopping by Customs House to see the house dance before turning up Macquarie Street to hop on a train home from Martin Place.

Vivid Sydney is on every night from 6pm until midnight until 10th June.  Check out the website here for details of events and light installations. I'll leave you with some of my snapshots from the night:
