My lovely Mummy recently told me about a new show about vintage clothing that has just started on Chanel 4 in the UK. It is called This Old Thing and is hosted by Dawn O'Porter. The first episode aired on 25th June and I managed to get my hands on a copy.
In the first episode Dawn converts two high street lovers of fast fashion into vintage lovers by taking them shopping in vintage stores and styling outfits for them. She also meets a collector of high end designer vintage items who shows her a stunning 1930's Worth dress made entirely of glass beads which would have cost the same price as a 3 bedroom house in central London when bought new! Dawn and her workshop team also help people with vintage items that just aren't working for them by revamping them into something new and wearable.
With information on what exactly constitutes vintage, fashions through the eras and where and how to buy vintage, this show is a fabulous watch for vintage lovers and newbies alike. Dawn O'Porter is a genuine vintage lover and her passion for vintage is infections.
For UK readers This Old Thing is on Chanel 4 at 8pm on Wednesdays. There is also a fab book to accompany the series which I will be ordering and reviewing soon!
