Our Second Wedding Anniversary - The Fijian Feast

Yesterday was our second wedding anniversary. As the hubby had to work in the morning and we didn't have much spare cash to spend we decided to have a quiet night in with a takeaway and a bottle of wine. We got married in Fiji so we decided to turn our meal into a Fijian feast. Unfortunately there are no Fijian restaurants in our area so we went for Indian which is about the closest we could get!

Our dinning table was decorated with mementos of our trip. The orchids are from Grantus' Mum's garden and were a gift from him before he headed back to Victoria. The salt and pepper pots and the frame with our wedding photo in where purchased in Fiji. As was these little carved figures which I'm told are a symbol of love and marriage in Fiji. The flowers are a selection of hair flowers that I bought in Fiji.

We spent the evening listening to Fijian choir music and going through our wedding pictures sharing the memories of the day.

We are having a day trip to Bowral today to celebrate our anniversary so stick around for details of that! 

Our Kitchen Makeover

When we first moved into our new unit the kitchen although modern was very beige. Over the last few months we have been adding our own personal touches to make it a little more colourful. Unfortunately we are only rented so we are limited with how far our renovations can go but we definitely managed to brighten up the place.

So here's the before picture, beige and bland:

I hopped on Polyvore to create a mood board for my kitchen renovation. Here's what I came up with. I went for red and turquoise to try and cheer it up a little.

I stuck with the red and turquoise theme for a sort of vintage feel with a few other colour items for accent such as the yellow flowers. The harlequin sherry glasses came from the previous unit and they were too pretty to pack away in a cupboard so they stay out despite not really matching! I mace the curtain to cover our bin and shoe rack and made a matching pelmet to brighten up the window a little.

Garden Makeover

As promised last week I thought I'd share with you some pictures of the makeover that we gave our balcony. We move in last summer but as the summer was so lousy we didn't really use the outside space much but this year we want to take advantage of the large space we have so we spruced it up a bit.

We set up this little bistro area just outside the sliding door that lead to the kitchen area so we can sit our there and eat our breakfast on warm days or just relax with a nice cup of tea and a good book.

There is a walkway that leads to the main balcony area which we decided to deck out in a tropical tiki style. The plants haven't grown in yet but once they do bougainvillea will cover the whole fence. We also planted a frangipani tree, a lime tree and a bird of paradise. We set up this hammock area for a nice chilling area and a big table and chairs and balcony so we can hold a few parties.
